Accommodation in Thailand

Thailand is know for being one of the cheapest places to visit. But are hotel rooms any cheaper than other countries? The answer to that is really down to how much you want to spend, and what type of accommodation in Thailand you are looking for. Lets take a look at some of the options open to you.

The hostel

These are often the cheapest way to avoid big hotel costs and if you are planning to travel around a lot then this may be the best option for you. There are thousands of these located all over Thailand.

The Motel

Motel in Si That near to Udon Thani

On a recent trip to Udon Thani, i managed to find a nice cheap motel for myself and my partner. This room cost me £5 per night for both of us. This came with air-conditioning too which was very nice. If you are planning to fly and drive around Thailand this is a great way to save yourself a lot of money. We had our own bed and bathroom facilities, which was all we needed for the evening.

Renting an apartment

If you are planning to stay in one location for a period of time, you may be able to rent an apartment for a few weeks. This is where doing your homework will pay off. have an idea of your budget you want to spend and have a search online for condo's and apartments in the location you want to stay in.  This will give you an idea of what to expect. A very basic room can be found for a couple of Thousand Thai Baht for a month if you look at the right places. But do not pay any money until you have seen it for your self first. You do not want to pay for somewhere that is not to your liking. The more luxurious you want your apartment to be the more you will pay. There really is no limit to what is out there.

Budget hotels

In all major cities in Thailand there are thousands of hotels that cater for those on a budget. These 2 and 3 star hotels can be found just about anywhere in Thailand. They offer a nice comfortable bed, air conditioning and all the basic amenities that you would expect back home. Ideal for those who are planning to stay in a location for a week or 2 and are not too bothered about where the hotel is located. Some of these can be difficult to find and very rarely come with parking. But there are some real gems if you search. Have a look at the link to Agoda below to see what is available on a budget. You will be surprised.

High end hotels

These are your typical 3.5 to 4 start hotels. These are mainly found in major cities and resorts. They will often appeal to people who want to have a relaxing time in a more relaxed environment. For these you should expect to pay western budget hotel prices per night. The main draw to these is that they offer fantastic comfort and the quiet relaxed environment. Often they will have amenities that the budget hotels do not, such as a basic gym, swimming pool ect. For those who love to relax by a pool this could be your ideal choice. These hotels are usually located in close proximity to some of the attractions in each city making them an ideal choice.

Luxury Hotels

If money is not a problem and you want to experience the best experience around then Thailand offers some of the best luxury hotels in the world. But you can manage to find these for around £150 per night if you search. Many of these hotels will have fantastic 5 star restaurants and some will offer fantastic views from their sky bars. The service you get is second to none, but that does come at a price.
